Summary

A Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability exists in the `@angular/common` package of the Angular framework. The `formatDate` function, which is also utilized by the standard Angular `DatePipe`, does not properly limit or validate the length of the `format` parameter. Issue has been patched in 22.0.1, 21.2.17, 20.3.25.

An uncontrolled resource allocation attack (also known as resource exhaustion attack) triggers unauthorized overconsumption of the limited resources in an application, such as memory, file system storage, database connection pool entries, and CPU. This may lead to denial of service for valid users and degradation of the application's functionality as well as that of the host operating system.
