Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF)

CVE-2026-42281

Severity High
Score 9.2/10

Summary

An unauthenticated Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the `/cors` endpoint allows any remote attacker to force the MagicMirror2 server to perform arbitrary HTTP requests to internal networks, cloud metadata services, and localhost services. The endpoint also expands environment variable placeholders (`**VAR_NAME**`), enabling exfiltration of server-side secrets. This affects magicmirror prior to 2.36.0

CWE-918 - Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF)

Server-side request forgery (SSRF) is a weakness that allows an attacker to send an arbitrary request, making it appear that the request was sent by the server. This request may bypass a firewall that would normally prevent direct access to the URL. The impact of this vulnerability can vary from unauthorized access to files and sensitive information to remote code execution.
