Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal')
CVE-2025-57698
Summary
The AstrBot Project contains a directory traversal vulnerability. The handler function 'install_plugin_upload' of the interface '/plugin/install-upload' parses the filename from the request body provided by the user, and directly uses the filename to assign to file_path without checking the validity of the filename. The variable 'file_path' is then passed as a parameter to the function `file.save`, so that the file in the request body can be saved to any location in the file system through directory traversal.

CWE-22 - Path Traversal
Path traversal (or directory traversal), is a vulnerability that allows malicious users to traverse the server's root directory, gaining access to arbitrary files and folders such as application code & data, back-end credentials, and sensitive operating system files. In the worst-case scenario, an attacker could potentially execute arbitrary files on the server, resulting in a denial of service attack. Such an exploit may severely impact the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of an application.
