Summary
Bad clients that always send a fixed batch value while the server is using the acknowledgement extension can cause the unacknowledged message queue to grow indefinitely, eventually resulting in an OutOfMemoryError. Affected versions are 5.x prior to 5.0.23, 6.x prior to 6.0.19, 7.x prior to 7.0.19 and 8.x prior to 8.0.9.

An uncontrolled resource allocation attack (also known as resource exhaustion attack) triggers unauthorized overconsumption of the limited resources in an application, such as memory, file system storage, database connection pool entries, and CPU. This may lead to denial of service for valid users and degradation of the application's functionality as well as that of the host operating system.
