Summary
The vantage6 technology enables to manage, and deploy privacy enhancing technologies like Federated Learning (FL) and Multi-Party Computation (MPC). Authenticated users could inject code into algorithm environment variables, resulting in Remote Code Execution. This vulnerability affects vantage6-client versions 0.0.0 through 0.0.0b3, 1.2.0 through 3.11.1 and 4.0.0a2 through 4.0.0a4, vantage6-algorithm-tools versions 4.0.0a5 through 4.1.3, vantage6-common versions 4.0.0a5 through 4.1.3, vantage6-node versions 0.0.0, 0.0.0b3 and 3.0.0b1.post1 through 4.1.3, and vantage6 versions 4.1.0b0 through 4.1.3.

CWE-94 - Code Injection
Code injection is a type of vulnerability that allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code. This vulnerability fully compromises the machine and can cause a wide variety of security issues, such as unauthorized access to sensitive information, manipulation of data, denial of service attacks etc. Code injection is different from command injection in the fact that it is limited by the functionality of the injected language (e.g. PHP), as opposed to command injection, which leverages existing code to execute commands, usually within the context of a shell.
