Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF)

CVE-2023-45141

Severity High
Score 8.8/10

Summary

Fiber is an express-inspired web framework written in Go. A Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in versions prior to 2.50.0 has been identified in the application, which allows an attacker to obtain tokens and forge malicious requests on behalf of a user. This can lead to unauthorized actions being taken on the user's behalf, potentially compromising the security and integrity of the application. The vulnerability is caused by improper validation and enforcement of CSRF tokens within the application. Users are advised to upgrade. Users should take additional security measures like captchas or Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and set Session cookies with "SameSite=Lax" or "SameSite=Secure", and the "Secure" and "HttpOnly" attributes. This has the same fix as CVE-2023-45128.

CWE-352 - Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF)

Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) is a vulnerability that allows an attacker to make arbitrary requests in an authenticated vulnerable web application and disrupt the integrity of the victim’s session. The impact of a successful CSRF attack may range from minor to severe, depending upon the capabilities exposed by the vulnerable application and privileges of the user. An attacker may force the user to perform state-changing requests like transferring funds, changing their email address or password etc. However, if an administrative level account is affected, it may compromise the whole web application and associated sensitive data.
