Uncontrolled Resource Consumption
CVE-2023-24580
Summary
An issue was discovered in the Multipart Request Parser in Django prior to 3.2.18, 4.0.x prior to 4.0.10, 4.1.x prior to 4.1.7, and 4.2.x prior to 4.2b1. Passing certain inputs (e.g., an excessive number of parts) to multipart forms could result in too many open files or memory exhaustion, and provided a potential vector for a denial-of-service attack.

CWE-400 - Uncontrolled resource consumption
An uncontrolled resource allocation attack (also known as resource exhaustion attack) triggers unauthorized overconsumption of the limited resources in an application, such as memory, file system storage, database connection pool entries, and CPU. This may lead to denial of service for valid users and degradation of the application's functionality as well as that of the host operating system.
