Uncontrolled Resource Consumption

CVE-2022-45196

Severity High
Score 7.5/10

Summary

Hyperledger Fabric prior to 2.2.5 and 2.3.x prior to 2.4.0 allows attackers to cause a denial of service (orderer crash) by repeatedly sending a crafted channel tx with the same Channel name. NOTE: The official Fabric with Raft prevents exploitation via a locking mechanism and a check for names that already exist.

CWE-400 - Uncontrolled resource consumption

An uncontrolled resource allocation attack (also known as resource exhaustion attack) triggers unauthorized overconsumption of the limited resources in an application, such as memory, file system storage, database connection pool entries, and CPU. This may lead to denial of service for valid users and degradation of the application's functionality as well as that of the host operating system.
