Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory Buffer
A vulnerability has been identified in JT2Go (All versions < V22.214.171.124), Solid Edge SE2021 (All versions < SE2021MP9), Solid Edge SE2022 (All versions < SE2022MP1), Teamcenter Visualization V13.1 (All versions < V126.96.36.199), Teamcenter Visualization V13.2 (All versions < V188.8.131.52), Teamcenter Visualization V13.3 (All versions < V184.108.40.206). The plmxmlAdapterSE70.dll library is vulnerable to memory corruption condition while parsing specially crafted PAR files. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process. (ZDI-CAN-15112)
CWE-119 - Buffer Overflow
Buffer overflow attacks involve data transit and operations exceeding the restricted memory buffer, thereby corrupting or overwriting data in adjacent memory locations. Such overflow allows the attacker to run arbitrary code or manipulate the existing code to cause privilege escalation, data breach, denial of service, system crash and even complete system compromise. Given that languages such as C and C++ lack default safeguards against overwriting or accessing data in their memory, applications utilizing these languages are most susceptible to buffer overflows attacks.
