Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF)

CVE-2021-43846

Severity Medium
Score 4.3/10

Summary

`solidus_frontend` is the cart and storefront for the Solidus e-commerce project. Versions of `solidus_frontend` prior to 2.11.14, 3.0.x prior to 3.0.5, and 3.1.x prior to 3.1.5 contain a cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability that allows a malicious site to add an item to the user's cart without their knowledge. Versions 3.1.5, 3.0.5, and 2.11.14 contain a patch for this issue. The patch adds CSRF token verification to the "Add to cart" action. Adding forgery protection to a form that missed it can have some side effects. Other CSRF protection strategies as well as a workaround involving modification to `config/application.rb` are available.

CWE-352 - Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF)

Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) is a vulnerability that allows an attacker to make arbitrary requests in an authenticated vulnerable web application and disrupt the integrity of the victim’s session. The impact of a successful CSRF attack may range from minor to severe, depending upon the capabilities exposed by the vulnerable application and privileges of the user. An attacker may force the user to perform state-changing requests like transferring funds, changing their email address or password etc. However, if an administrative level account is affected, it may compromise the whole web application and associated sensitive data.
