Summary
TYPO3 is an open source PHP based web content management system. In TYPO3 versions through 10.4.1, and 11.0.0 through 11.1.0 it has been discovered that database fields used as "_descriptionColumn_" are vulnerable to cross-site scripting when their content gets previewed. A valid backend user account is needed to exploit this vulnerability.

Cross-Site Scripting, commonly referred to as XSS, is the most dominant class of vulnerabilities. It allows an attacker to inject malicious code into a pregnable web application and victimize its users. The exploitation of such a weakness can cause severe issues such as account takeover, and sensitive data exfiltration. Because of the prevalence of XSS vulnerabilities and their high rate of exploitation, it has remained in the OWASP top 10 vulnerabilities for years.
