In SaltStack Salt, salt-netapi improperly validates eauth credentials and tokens. A user can bypass authentication and invoke Salt SSH. It affects versions 3000.x and 3001.x (excluding 3000.5 and 3001.3), and versions below 3002.1.

Improper (or broken) authentication attacks are widespread, and have accounted for many of the worst data breaches in recent years. Improper authentication attacks are a class of vulnerabilities where an attacker impersonates a legitimate user by exploiting weaknesses in either session management or credential management to gain access to the user’s account.
