Summary

Mattermost versions 8.1.0-rc2 through 8.1.11, 9.5.0-rc1 through 9.5.2, and 9.6.0-rc1 through 9.6.0 fail to limit the size of a request path that includes user inputs which allows an attacker to cause excessive resource consumption, possibly leading to a Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack via sending large request paths.

An uncontrolled resource allocation attack (also known as resource exhaustion attack) triggers unauthorized overconsumption of the limited resources in an application, such as memory, file system storage, database connection pool entries, and CPU.
