Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF)

CVE-2026-42038

Severity High
Score 7.5/10

Summary

Axios is a promise-based HTTP client for the browser and Node.js. Prior to 0.31.1 and 1.0.0 prior to 1.15.1, he fix for no_proxy hostname normalisation bypass is incomplete. When no_proxy=localhost is set, requests to 127.0.0.1 and [::1] still route through the proxy instead of bypassing it. The 'shouldBypassProxy()' function does pure string matching it does not resolve IP aliases or loopback equivalents. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.15.1 and 0.31.1.

CWE-918 - Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF)

Server-side request forgery (SSRF) is a weakness that allows an attacker to send an arbitrary request, making it appear that the request was sent by the server. This request may bypass a firewall that would normally prevent direct access to the URL. The impact of this vulnerability can vary from unauthorized access to files and sensitive information to remote code execution.
