Uncontrolled Resource Consumption
CVE-2022-44566
Summary
A denial of service vulnerability present in ActiveRecord's PostgreSQL adapter versions through 5.2.8.1, 6.0.0.beta1 through 6.1.7, and 7.0.0.alpha1 through 7.0.4. When a value outside the range for a 64bit signed integer is provided to the PostgreSQL connection adapter, it will treat the target column type as numeric. Comparing integer values against numeric values can result in a slow sequential scan resulting in potential Denial of Service.

CWE-400 - Uncontrolled resource consumption
An uncontrolled resource allocation attack (also known as resource exhaustion attack) triggers unauthorized overconsumption of the limited resources in an application, such as memory, file system storage, database connection pool entries, and CPU. This may lead to denial of service for valid users and degradation of the application's functionality as well as that of the host operating system.
